News Roundup: Smartphones and Fingerprints

Last week at FindBiometrics we began our featured examination of invisible biometrics while smartphones and fingerprint sensors dominated the industry news. The headlines were rounded out with biometric commerce news, voice recognition innovation from Sensory, and government biometrics.

Here is a look at last week’s top stories:

Mobile BiometricsFingerprint Cards made big waves this week with some impressive news items. The fingerprint biometrics company received a gigantic sensor order from World Peace Industrial Group and also announced that its sensors are featured on new Huawei and Meizu handsets. As the FPC licenses the Precise Biometrics algorithm, both headsets in question also feature Precise Biomatch Mobile software.

Also this week: We learned that the iPhone 6S – which is said to sport enhanced biometric capabilities – has begun production; we reported on NEXT Biometrics’ strong market position; and we gave you a glimpse into the research firm that predicted the mobile biometrics revolution.

Invisible Biometrics

multimodal biometricsJuly is Invisible Biometrics Month at FindBiometrics and as such we kicked things off with a primer on the topic of authentication so frictionless you can’t even tell it’s there. Sensory Inc, meanwhile, announced its own invisible biometrics solution, TrulySecure, a voice and speech biometric software solution that can switch user profiles on the fly thanks to passive voiceprint recognition.
